Family holds vigil for East Columbus murder victim

 Loved ones of a Columbus man shot and killed gathered for a candlelight vigil on Saturday at the scene of the shooting.

Cortez Townsend, 28, was shot and killed outside of a gas station on E. Livingston Avenue Friday night.

1 dead following East Columbus shooting

The Columbus Division of Police says one person has died following a shooting Friday on the city"s east side. Police say the victim was shot in the 1930 block of East Livingston Avenue, and that the victim has been pronounced dead. The victim"s identity has not yet been released.

His family is calling for answers, and pleading with anyone who has any information to come forward.

"He's a father, he has three children, he's a brother, a son, a cousin," said Emotion Townsend, sister of Cortez Townsend. The family set up a Gofundme asking for help to get Cortez back to Detroit for a proper burial.

At this point, the Columbus Division of Police is still gathering information about exactly what happened.
